SOLID HOUSE FOUNDATION

Capacity building
has fast become a major topic among non-profit organisations and management support organisations (funders, associations, training centres, consultants, etc.) that provide services to the non-profit sector. There are a variety of definitions for capacity building. Perhaps the most fundamental definition is “actions that improve non-profit effectiveness” (from Investing in Capacity Building by Barbara Blumenthal, published by The Foundation Centre) or actions that enhance an organisation’s ability to work towards its mission.

The concept of capacity building in non-profit organisations is similar to the concept of organisational development, organisational effectiveness and/or organisational performance management in the commercial sector. Capacity building efforts can include a broad range of approaches, e.g. granting operational funds, granting management development funds, providing training and development sessions, providing coaching, supporting collaboration with other non-profit organisations etc. Prominent methods of organisational performance management in the commercial sector are beginning to be mentioned in discussions about capacity building, as well as, for example, the Balanced Scorecard, principles of organisational change, cultural change, organisational learning, etc.

Our target groups:
-Beneficiaries: Financial and housing improvement will generate integral community growth and will make families more self-sufficient. They will be better prepared to search for new opportunities and to have a more positive attitude towards the future
-Local and international counterparties: working together with different specialists will help create a more integral programme, in which the financial and house improvement becomes the starting point for other development projects. The exchange of international and national experiences will generate an interesting and useful interaction.
